Northwestern's School of Music will be re-named after President Henry Bienen and his wife Leigh, a senior lecturer at the School of Law, Patrick Ryan, chairman of the Board of Trustees, announced on Tuesday.

The Board of Trustees will also begin a capital campaign funded by trustees and donors to secure additional professorships, scholarships and other initiatives for the Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music.

"This was not something we ever expected," Bienen said. "We are very happy and honored that Ryan and the board of trustees chose to do this. We hope it will be beneficial to the School of Music and that the new endowment will help the school grow and flourish for years to come."

The name change will go into effect next fall.

More to come.
